HENRY HOLIDAY SHIRT (Confederate Issue Shirt)
A Confederate soldier from Maryland, named Henry Holiday, was issued this Richmond Clothing Bureau shirt. This shirt is consistent with civilian shirts of the time period and if not directly linked to a soldier would not stand out as a military shirt. This shirt features styling consistent with the 1846 patented shaped armhole, but with gussets of a much earlier time period. The buttons on our reproduction are copied after the original wood buttons which have had made just for this shirt.
This style of shirt was such a common style that it is very likely other Confederate clothing depots issued very similar or even identical shirts. The material for this and the Joesph Pray shirt is specially designed and woven by N.J. Sekela.
(Despite the materials rough & course appearance it is very soft and comfortable.)
***NOTE *** We recommend going up a size due to some customers have found the shirts a bit snug in the shoulders. We plan to alter our patterns in future shirts of this pattern and material. *** (so, if you normally wear a Large, I would get an X-Large.)
