#406NS Deep South Enlisted Shell Jacket

$270.00

This seven-button jacket is constructed in a 6-piece body and features double rows of hand top stitching along the entire perimeter. The one-piece collar, and wide external pocket are distinctive features of this garment.

The outer shell is of our own vegetable/yarn dyed jean cloth, featuring the striated banding found on both civilian and military garments of the 1860's. The lining is of plain weave cotton and is bereft of internal pockets. This vegetable dyed jacket, like the originals will fade to tan color after prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Per Echoes of Glory page 141, this jacket has not been officially identified as to wear it came from. Most likely a deep South depot such as Mobile, Alabama. We also have another version of this jacket in jean cloth. (see the last photo).
