#404NS US Infantry Overcoat in Satinnette
Federal Foot Overcoat made of satinet
Constructed of our own custom produced indigo dyed jean cloth, this overcoat is representative of a garment from the first half of the conflict. This span of time sometimes referred to as the Emergency period, where several different fabrics were substituted to make up for shortfalls in standard issue sky blue kersey. Lined in our custom produced red tailoring grade jean cloth, this garment is a fantastic educational tool for those portraying the first half of the war.
Extensively hand finished interior, all seams are hand serged to prevent fraying. Cape hem is hand finished, and bottom hem is double rolled and topstitched.
An original of this coat may be seen in the book REGIMENTS & UNIFORMS OF THE CIVIL WAR, by Don Troiani, pictured on page 151 is a satinet overcoat worn by Pvt. Edgar S. Yergason of the 22nd Connecticut Volunteers, the coat was made in 1862.
