Leather U.S. canteen slings were made by northern contractors such as Albert Dorff of Philadelphia, who made 15,000 in 1859 alone. This will fit both the 1858 “smooth side” and the “bullseye” style canteens. The smooth side canteen in the photo is an original and it fits it perfectly as well as reproductions, I also the tested the sling on a canteen made by Ulrich, and it fits same as on the original canteen.
