Our chevrons are made from custom dyed worsted herringbone twill tape. Although the vertical rib tape was still in use, it was predominantly a carryover from an earlier period. In addition, our chevrons are clean finished at the point and outside edge. We have seen reproductions offered in a raw edged mohair braid which is highly prone to raveling and fraying. While I do not doubt that raw edged chevrons may have existed, I have yet to find one that was arsenal or contractor produced.
