This Federal issue shirt was taken directly from an example in the collection of the West Point Museum, this shirt bears the hallmarks of the shirts issued during the Civil War. Of dark blue, with a single pocket, and with tinned iron buttons, this shirt was an economical design for durability. While you can see the similarities to the David Gilbert Myers shirt, the words "contractor variation" definitely applies to this garment.
