This is lantern I requested to be made based off of an 1862 newspaper picture of Confederate soldiers using very similar ones, I have seen other similar original versions many years ago. This tin lantern has a glass pane on one side and the other three sides are tin with a handle on the back and a bail wire to hang it up if desired. This lantern can be pointed in the direction light is desired and with the other three sides being tin it does not "blind" you in the dark. It is a very handy lantern to use when walking through woods at night or for using while working things in camp.
