This double “D” Bowie knife is the “ultimate” in replica Confederate Bowie knives. Made by Adam Daub of 18th CENTURY ARMS, this high-quality accurate replica is as close to original as can be done. I was so excited to see this work of art and surprised that it is lighter than expected, although it is a substantial knife. Accurate 19th century leather sheath with belt loop included. Many ask why the Southerners carried such knives, it is believed that during the early phases of the war they were inadequately armed and felt the need to have these as well as the outdated muskets they were originally issued. Some continued to use similar bowies as late as Antietam-Sharpsburg battle as one similar knife was found in the “sunken lane “from the late 1862 battle.
